1. Eat frequently.
Be sure to consume calories more than you what burn with physical activity.
2. Eat bigger than normal portions for your meals.
Eat food with higher calories. Choose foods that are nutrient-dense instead of settling for high-calorie junk foods. Nutrient-dense foods include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
3. Add healthy unsaturated fats to diet.
Examples are olive and canola oil, butter, nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados.
4. Eat starchy carbohydrate foods.
Examples are potatoes, sweet corn, rice or pasta as energy-dense carbohydrate sources
5. Increase your protein intake.
Eat eggs, fish, meat, veggies, milk, and cheese. Our body needs a lot of protein to build new muscle. But since most of the calories for weight gain come from carbohydrates and fats, do not replace them with protein.
6. Drink shakes, milk, juice, etc. instead of water, coffee, tea, and diet sodas.
7. Do resistance training.
Weight training helps convert the extra calories into muscle. One of the best weight training exercises for building muscle mass are free weight exercises like squats, dead lifts, bench presses, barbell rows, pull ups and bar dips.
8. Have discipline, consistency, perseverance, determination, dedication and patience. - It would take some time, usually a few months, for you to see some weight gain. Many people get frustrated and quit when they fail to see dramatic improvement. You need to focus on your weight gain plan.
9. Add food supplement in diet or multivitamins which has bulclizine and pizotifen, an appetizer to increase weight.
10. You can also gain weight by increasing the size of your muscles.
